A non-profit, non-political socio-cultural association of AMU alumni resident in Saudi Arabia.
Chapter 1: The mission
Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Alumni Association (AMUOBA) Jeddah was founded to serve the educational, social, literary, and cultural needs of the community living in Saudi Arabia, especially in Jeddah and the surrounding area. It seeks to profess and propagate the vision and educational ideals of the AMU and its founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
The mission of the AMU Alumni Association of Jeddah
- Foster positive interaction among the alumni of Aligarh Muslim University residing in Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Taif and the nearby area, helping build an effective international network.
- A continuous and productive relationship with the university.
- Encourage constructive community services, both local and international, by contributing knowledge, time and resources to help those in need.
- Help to create an educated and learned society, the professed desire of the founder of AMU, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan.
Aims and objectives
- Help all needy Indians, especially Aligarians, living in Jeddah and the surrounding area.
- Establish a close tie between the Aligs living in Jeddah and the surrounding area.
- Award scholarships to deserving students in KSA as well as in India.
- Develop and strengthen the community by organising social activities, community enrichment, and cultural and literary programmes.
- Promote the AMU spirit and traditions.
- Participate in and support philanthropic services.
- Promote and participate in educational projects in India.
- Award Aligarians in recognition of community service, professional and personal.
Chapter 2: A hundred and twenty-seven years
1892
The Brotherhood
The association that would become the Old Boys' Association begins at Aligarh as The Brotherhood, gathering former students of the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College founded by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
1899
The Old Boys' Association is founded
On 5 March 1899 the Old Boys' Association is founded at Aligarh. Every chapter, including Jeddah, descends from this date.
2026
A new committee is installed
On 21 June 2026 the 2026–2028 executive committee is installed, with Dr Prince Mufti Ziaul Hasan as President and Athar Rasool as General Secretary. The register passes to the next hands.
